ISHAS SEMINAR SERIES
We are excited to announce the launch of a new seminar series organised by the ISHAS Early Career Group. This seminar series has been designed to provide opportunities for researchers (particularly early career researchers) to present their data, outside of the biannual HA conference.

ISHAS GRANT AWARDS 2024
Huge congratulations to Dorothea Erxleben, Rebecca Dodd, and Carmela Ricciardelli, who were awarded ISHAS research grants, and to Sara Silva, who was awarded an ISHAS travel award. Well done!
Special Issue on “Hyaluronan Biology”
January 6th, 2024
I am pleased to announce the establishment of a Special Issue on “Hyaluronan Biology” which will be run by two specialist Guest Editors: Aaron C. Petrey, Ph.D. from the University of Utah and Stephen R. Reeves, MD from the University of Washington. Our goal is to publish 10-15 articles including a blend of Research Articles, Brief Reports and Minireviews. Articles can be submitted continuously and will be published on an ongoing basis with submission deadline of June 30th, 2024, when they will become part of an available virtual issue completed after the deadline.

We believe that this special issue will create a great opportunity to increase the visibility of our research field. Proteoglycan Research is a fully open access journal that considers both mechanistic and correlative papers including research articles, research reports, comprehensive reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives, methods papers and technical advances. Please view the Guide to Authors for more information.

2024 Election Results
- Stavros Garantziotis was elected Treasurer.
- Soma Meran was elected VP, Clinical Sciences Division.
- Vivien J Coulson-Thomas and Jennifer E Curtis were elected as Trustees.
- We also welcome Becky Dodd as the new Trainee Representative to the Board.
- In addition, Ed Harris was enlisted as a Temporary Officer of ISHAS.
Call for Applications for New ISHAS Grants
ISHAS is proud to announce the availability of a new grant program to support members of the society.
There are three types of award: ISHAS Personal Scholarships, ISHAS Research Travel Grants, and ISHAS Research Grants.
These grants and scholarships are supported by the recently-launched ISHAS Corporate Affiliates Program, currently including the founding members HTL Biotechnology, LifeCore Biomedical, and SyrHA Technologies. OVERVIEW OF HA 2023
Hyaluronan 2023, the 14th conference of the International Society for Hyaluronan Sciences, was held between June 4th and 8th at the Hilton Hotel, Portland, Oregon. The beautiful weather and ideal location provided a perfect backdrop to rekindle old and build new friendships and collaborations.
After not meeting in person for 4 years, HA researchers were excited to hear the latest findings from the HA field. The HA 2023 conference attracted 142 attendees from more than 15 countries. This included representation from 25 different companies, reflecting the broad application of hyaluronan in industry.View the Awards and Recap of HA 2023

Awards
Awards presented at HA 2023
2023 Endre Balazs and Janet Denlinger Award. This award recognizes researchers at an early phase of their independent research career for making a significant contribution (i.e., a body of work) to the development of hyaluronan science. The Award will be presented at the HA 2023 Conference.
ISHAS Renato Iozzo Singular Achievement Award for the most significant contribution to the HA field since the HA2021 conference. Awards were presented at HA 2023!
